PETER POUND
Well known in the Comic Book and Feature Film disciplines, Peter Pound is an incredibly accomplished artist with an undeniable talent and imagination. Wallspace Gallery is very excited to announce a solo show of the paintings of Peter Pound in April 2007. Pound's work shocks, inspires, and seeks to illuminate the darkest fears of our personal and social conscience. The exhibition will also showcase the unique graphic novels and artist books created by Peter Pound over the last 20 years from which the many worlds and visions of the world expressed in his paintings are inspired and further explored.
Artist Bio: Born in 1961, at Eugowra, NSW, Peter studied Fine Arts at East Sydney Campus Darlinghurst. He then began a career in freelance illustration and conceptual work for film and television. Working in Australia and overseas he continued his own work as a visual artist in the form of graphic novels, conceptual comic books and painting. Pound held his first solo show in 1999 by invitation at the Cairns Film Festival, Queensland and has taken part in 15 group and two solo exhibitions, namely 'The Graphic art of Contemporary comics' -Australian National Gallery, 'Rijeka Croatia' - Museum of Modern Art, Croatia and 'Popcorn Taxi' - Valhalla Cinema Glebe.
Peter Pound's illustration work includes comic books, record/CD covers and Technical illustrations including ‘Pounding Tales’, ‘Cargo Zombies’ ‘Family Slaughter’, ‘Eddie Magazine’, ‘I Could’a Been a Contender’ – Waterfront Records, ‘Sneeze’, ‘Godstar’, ‘The Rosemarys’, ‘The Plunderers’ – Half a Cow Records, ‘Model House’ – Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Dr Karl Kruszelnicki’s Science Books, Law Book Company and ‘Babe Pig in the City’ – children’s book. Freelance Illustrator, Storyboard Artist and Concept Artist for numerous film and television projects, including ‘The Crow’, ‘Babe’, ‘Babe Pig in the City’, ‘Dark City’, ‘Looking for Alibrandi’, ‘Man Thing, ‘Stealth’, ‘Ghost Rider’, ‘Going Home’.
